erupt along the i 95 corridor. be cautious. look at the wind gusts they took us close to 50 miles an hour at jfk. you can bet the airports are going to be clogged. we have we are going to see delays probably cancellations. southeast up toward the northeast where you see the dark shade of brown here that's a wind warning where you can see wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour. we see that around the nyc area. wind gusts 50 miles per hour. a lot of folks are nervous obviously. look at the 24-hour temperature change. behind the cold front temperatures dropping almost 40 degrees as the front continues to move eastward. we will keep you up to date on the damage reports that will be consistent through out the morning. we begin this morning with a fox news alert.

a tense hostage situation unfolding in alabama. more than 30 hours after the gunman kidnapped a 6-year-old boy off of a school bus. craig boswell is live with the latest. good morning to you. we are 36 hours, a day and a half now inand very little information overnight. we are told we will be updated with information around 6:00 a.m. local time. that's a couple hours from now. we are in midland city, alabama. the property over my left shoulder you can't see much because it's very dark. we have been moved way away from the scene that's going on right now a scene that has been fully taken over by the fbi. jimmy lee dikes retired trucker navy veteran abuse cued of killi -- accused of killing a bus driver. there were 22 kids on the bus. he allegedly grabbed the little boy holding that little boy hostage in a homemade bunker.

>> i can assure you the negotiators continue to communicate with the suspect. this time we have no reason to believe the child has been harmed. that bunker about sometimes you will see in alabama 4 feet by 8 feet. they will put these in the ground as a tornado shelter. some describe them as a bomb shelter. we are told by people here that he does have electricity and he does have food and investigators fbi swat negotiators are able to communicate. they have pushed a pvc pipe into the bunker or tornado shelter and they have been able to communicate. they have lowered medicine down to the little boy who has illnesses that had to be taken care of on a daily basis. hopefully new information

updated in an hour and a half, two hours. >> craig boswell live for us. >> the top five stories making the news at this hour. a manhunt is underway for this man who is considered armed and dangerous. 70-year-old arthur harmon opened tire at an office building in arizona killing that company's ceo before taking off. two other people were shot, one is in critical condition at a local hospital this morning. this all happened shortly after a litigation meeting. harmon got into an argument with two of the men involved and then started shooting. we were told to get under the table. there was a man with a gun. >> two men mr. harmon's target. >> the first hearing on curbing gun violence.

council may expire. >> the president's council on jobs and competitiveness have met twice in the white house once in durham north carolina and once in pittsburgh. they haven't met since january 17th of last year. since the same executive alreor that created the council has language in it that terminates the council today that council will go away unless the president reaut rides it. jay carney said yesterday even though the economy shrank in the 4th quarter it is still showing signs of life. oo there was positive economic growth in 2012 and 2011 and, you know, we continue to believe as

outside forecasters believe that unless actions by those in washington take us in a different direction we will see positive economic growth and job creation this year. >> kevin brady sees things a little differently. he says this is a quote, this president's recovery ranked near the bottom in mainstream job creation. we are 3 million jobs below the prerecession peak of january 2008 and 4.3 short of an economic recovery. the white house blogged about the job's council last meeting over a year ago. the council offered president obama 35 specific recommendations that did not require legislative action that he took action on 33 of them and his administration had already implemented 16.

being rolled out. it will be in full effect in 2014. union leaders say many of the law's requirements drive up costs for their workers. they want some of the lower paid members to get federal insurance subsidies once designed for workers without employer coverage. 20 million americans are in the push for the subsidies and they work at smaller companies not the big ones. the wall street journal contacted the white house for this story for comment. the issue is subject to rules that are still being written. so many companies aren't going to even know how to comply with the new law. >> that has been a huge problem. another topic. there's a class action lawsuit against nestle corporation for pizzas. this class action lawsuit the lawyers file them the plaintiffs get a tiny bit of money and the lawyers get it all. >> sometimes. >> this one hits home for many moms who stick a frozen pizza in the oven. now a $5 million battle.

the bus driver kept him from getting the children. he opened fire on the bus driver killing the bus driver and grabbed a 6-year-old boy taking him hostage. he's holding the hostage and the property back behind us here in a homemade bunker. >> negotiators continue to communicate with the suspect. this time we have no reason to believe that the child has been harmed. >> now wednesday night prayer services were focused on prayers for the little boy. they were focused on remembering the bus driver as a hero. as for the bunker we are told investigators are communicating with the suspect through a pvc pipe they have pushed down into the dirt. the bunkers this one described as a bomb shelter or as you will see across alabama similarly a tornado shelter 4 feet by 8 feet dropped into the ground and they were covered over by dirt. they are not very large but we are also told the suspect has

widespread damage this morning. things are looking really bad right there behind you. what can you tell us? >> this is what's left of a grocery store here in downtown. we are 60 miles north of atlanta, northwest of atlanta. in this town this small town has been were the tee much leveled by this storm that came through. this particular grocery store we are standing in front of had a number of people that were inside when the tornado -- suspected tornado hit. we are told the clerk, the owner she hid under the counter. the customers inside they hid in the isles. across the street from where we are standing there is a hotel that has been torn apart. luckily no one seriously injured in either of the spots we are standing in front of. unfortunately, though, there were about nine folks who were hurt and tragically one man who
